XSEED Games is delighted to be kicking off a summer filled with news and details regarding the upcoming Nintendo DS action-RPG, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter! Developed by CyberConnect2 in Japan – the team behind the late 1990s PlayStation hit, and Solatorobo’s spiritual predecessor, Tail Concerto –Solatorobo: Red the Hunter is a winding tale of intrigue and mystery that encourages players to explore the world, interacting with all manner of characters along the way.
Taking place in what is known as the Shepherd Republic, a world of floating islands and European-style vistas, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter features highly-stylized anime art presented with bright and stunning pastel colors. Populated by two distinct bipedal races which resemble dogs and cats, inhabitants of the Shepherd Republic have advanced to a point where they use robot mechs, or Robos, in their everyday lives.
Centered around the story of self-assured and somewhat impulsive dog-like Red Savarin, Solatorobo opens high above the clouds of the Shepherd Republic, where Red and his faithful, younger sister-like companion, Chocolat, are about to begin their latest mission – infiltrate the Hindenburg airship and obtain a file in exchange for a paycheck from their client, no questions asked. They pull up alongside the Hindenburg and Red embarks on what he thinks to be yet another routine mission… but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Together with his beloved Robo, Dahak, Red battles his way deep into the airship’s superstructure, where he finally comes across not only the files he seeks, but more importantly a mysterious artifact. Just as he touches it, a massive monster of incomprehensible proportions appears from nowhere and bats the Hindenburg out of the sky. Escaping with the amulet and a mysterious unconscious passenger he finds along the way, who later introduces himself as Elh, Red returns to the town of Airedale seeking his reward while Elh awakens to warn him of an impending doom…
Where Red sought only compensation for his deeds, he now finds himself wandering down a twisting path of enigmatic prophecy, which will lead him to answers both of his past and that of the world around him.
Currently in production, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter will be released this fall in North America by XSEED Games for Nintendo DS. XSEED Games will release more product information in the coming months.
