Rocksmith Adds Bass Guitar DLC This Fall

SAN FRANCISCO – June 5, 2012 – Today, Ubisoft announced that Rocksmith will be receiving new down-loadable content which will allow players to plug in and play with a bass guitar. The bass DLC will release on September 4, 2012 and will be available for $29.99.

On October 16, 2012, the standard edition of the game, available for $79.99, will ship with the bass content included on the disc and the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable. The Real Tone Cable is a unique 1/4” to USB cable that is the first of its kind, developed exclusively for Rocksmith. This revolutionary cable turns the instruments signal from analog to digital, allowing it to be recognized and played through video game consoles for the first time. The popular guitar bundle will also be available for $199.99 and includes an Epiphone Les Paul Jr guitar, along with the bass DLC and the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable. Both the standard edition and the guitar bundle will ship for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and PC.  Rocksmith is rated “T” for Teen.

Bass arrangements have been added to all of the existing in-game tracks and previously released DLC tracks. Not only can you play the bass parts of songs, bassists of all experience levels can also improve their skills like 2-finger plucking, slapping, and popping with dedicated bass technique challenges, tutorial videos and mini-games. You can even use any 6-string guitar to emulate a 4-string bass. Tracking your learning has never been easier as bass progression is tracked separately from guitar progression.

Rocksmith is the first and only video game where players can plug any real guitar or bass with a standard 1/4” input jack into an Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system or PC and play through an in-depth library of music including everything from the latest hits to classic rock songs. Rocksmith features gameplay that automatically adjusts to the player’s skill level, and will engage experienced musicians as well as those who are picking up a guitar for the first time. Players will be able to choose from actual lead, rhythm, and combo guitar compositions, inspiring players to perform songs after the game is turned off.
