Well, those of you holding out for a price drop on the PlayStation 3 will just have to continue to hold your breath because today Sony announced a $30 price drop on the PlayStation 2 in the US beginning April 1, 2009. Yes, the system that’s well into its ninth year on store shelves and has sold 50 million units in North America alone (and 120 million units worldwide) will now be available for the low, low price of $99.99 a bargain for anyone looking for a game console or for someone looking to buy a second system for another room, the RV, the bathroom, walk-in closet, custom car design, or whatever it is you want to do with one.Â

YAY! $99 PS2! SWEET! I am heading out now to buy one. :p
I guess maybe they will tap into the market of people that have still not bought one, but you would think if someone wanted to buy a PlayStation 2 for $99 they would’ve just bought a used one by now.
I guess people could use it also for a 2nd DVD player, if they want one in the bedroom, but a standalone DVD player is a lot cheaper.
It will be interesting to see if sales of the PS2 skyrocket after this price drop.
Are any of you going to buy a PS2 or a second one now that is it cheaper?
